Limani

Limani on Urbanspoon
I never expected a restaurant of Limani’s caliber to end up in Long Island but perhaps maybe on 60th and Madison. Limani is an upscale, chic Greek restaurant located not too far from the Americana Mall in Roslyn. Rolls Royces, BMWs, Bentleys and Mercedes-Benzs occupy the parking lot if that gives you any indication of what kind of clientele dines here. The menu is long and pricey but the lavish ambiance almost makes you forget you’ll be paying “by the pound” for your fish. The restaurant strongly resembles Estiatorio Milos on 55th street but that could be because the chef, Peter Spyropoulos, is a Milos alumn. The menu takes traditional Greek food and refines it. The fried smelts were slightly less fried and lighter than what is served at local Greek restaurants in Astoria but it was also twice as expensive. The langoustines while fresh and tasty, were a bit on the small side. The fried potatoes had a modern twist on them and actually contained sprinkled cheese on the top which added a nice twist to it. Limani is most certainly not your average Greek restaurant but if you do want to dine like the Gods do be sure to take a visit soon.
