Hot Chip Performing at Celebrate Brooklyn Benefit Concert

Last night was the sold out Celebrate Brooklyn concert at the Prospect Park Bandshell. The increasingly popular band, Hot Chip, headlined the event sponsored by Bud Light, Vitamin Water and Google Play. Hot Chip didn’t begin performing till around 9 PM so many people decided to wait outside in the park until the English electronic band started playing. Alexis Taylor, Al Doyle, Joe Goddard, Grovesnor, Owen Clarke, Felix Martin make up Hot Chip and I first found out about the band after hearing Al Doyle play an amazing DJ set at Le Baron Chinatown. Saying that the line to get in, even after already picking up your tickets from will call, was long is simply an understatement but the staff did a great job at keeping everything running smoothly and most importantly quickly. The band played some of their popular songs such as Night and Day which were instant crowd-pleasers. Hot Chip also had a fanstastic light show to accompany their music and the energy the band brings to their performances is simply amazing, seeing Hot Chip live is just a totally different experience than just hearing their music. The concert was said to end at 10 PM but the band then played two encore songs. Another thing that suprised me was the crowd that attended the concert. Normally I would expect a pretty casual crowd but some people actually arrived in heels and evening dresses. This Hot Chip concert was a great night overall and if you want to take a look at a bit of their performance, check out this video below!
